When Akseleran launched in 2017, brand visibility was a critical challenge, especially in the crowded online space. We needed a mix of paid and organic strategies to cut through the noise, and SEO became one of our earliest long-term bets.
I spearheaded Akseleran’s SEO strategy, knowing it wouldn’t yield instant results but would lay the foundation for sustainable organic growth.
Of course in the early stage, SEO would not be very effective because it would take time to build SEO score. But I understood that early action was crucial to ranking for priority keywords ahead of competitors and building domain authority.
After around 1-2 years the SEO effect started to kick-in and we got a decent organic traffic. But it was stuck around 250k – 350k visitors per month in 2021, signaling it was time to evolve our strategy beyond the basics.
How could we break through the traffic ceiling and scale visibility further?
Process & Solution
Our blog is our main organic traffic source, as we can optimized focus keywords and channel the traffic to our main product website. Some of things that we’ve done for SEO up until 2021:
Utilized Ahrefs for SEO Audit
The SEO score in Ahrefs is one of our main performance indicators for our SEO performance. We can see if we are improving or not using this score. We can also compare the performance to our competitors.
Regular SEO content production
Our content person regularly produced around 30-40 SEO articles monthly with our main focus keywords. As we only had 1 content person, we tried to scale up the content production using a vendor, which can produce the same amount of content per month (doubling in-house production capacity).
On-Page and Off-Page Optimization
We did the On-Page optimization, by using SEO-friendly CMS like WordPress, optimizing the H1-H3, meta descriptions, sufficient article length and ensuring good quality content, and implementing image optimization plugin.
For Off-Page optimization, we reached out to our partners to explore the possibilities of some article exchange (with backlinks). The criteria that we looked for in a potential partner was the willingness to provide DoFollow backlinks and their businesses were relevant to what we do.
Further improvements
As expected, with all the initiatives the traffic improved quite significantly from 2020 to 2021, from around 100k per month to around 250k – 300k per month (increased more than 150%).
After a while, the traffic stagnated around 250k – 350k per month and I needed to find new growth drivers. We analyzed the engagement metrics on Google Analytics and saw that our bounce rate is actually quite high. This led us to a further investigation on the cause, and later on it was found out that our page load speed was actually really slow and made visitors bounced off the page.
We analyzed the speed with Google Page Speed Insights, and found out that the speed performance score/grade was low, as expected. Our digital marketing team then tried to follow the suggestions provided to fix the speed, especially things related to content assets (optimize image size, optimize css, etc).
Despite the fixes done by our digital marketing team, the speed did not increase substantially. We then consult with out IT team to gain additional perspective. They did their analysis as well and found out that the local server hosted our blog was using an under-powered hardware.
Our IT Team then proceeded to make a server migration/upgrade plan to improve SEO performance.
Benefit / Result
After IT team migrated/upgraded the server with a more powerful hardware at the end of 2021, we saw a substantial decrease in bounce rate and significant increase in organic traffic as can be seen on the chart below.
Starting in January 2022, our organic traffic surged, jumping from an average of 350K to 600K monthly visitors, a 71% increase in just months.
The Ripple Effects of This Growth
✔ Enhanced User Experience – More visitors engaged with high-quality content, reducing bounce rates and improving time-on-site.
✔ Expanded Brand Authority – Increased visibility positioned us as a trusted industry leader, driving higher conversion rates and new user acquisition.
This leap wasn’t luck, it was the result of meticulous analysis and strategic optimizations. Even small, precise tweaks, when backed by deep metrics, can unlock exponential growth.
